Ellie Frost, business development director at Jamie Oliver International, who was charged with the rollout of Jamie’s Italian overseas, has stepped down from the company, M&C Report has learnt. Frost, who took up the role in August 2009, has been replaced by Nick Shapira, who already works for the high-profile chef. Speaking at the 12th European Foodservice Summit in Zurich last month, Frost said that company was to ramp up its international expansion next year, with openings in Ireland, Germany, Russia and Sweden targeted. The company, which currently operates 22 sites in the UK, plus one in Dubai, is set to open its first restaurants under franchise in Ireland and Russia by the end of summer next year. The group has already signed up three of the four regional partners it would like to work with in Germany. Frost said that apart from expansion in the US and Canada, all of the chain’s sites internationally would be operated with franchise partners. The company’s second overseas site in Sydney, Australia, will open next month, while a second Dubai outlet could also open before the end of the year.
