The group behind the Blue India Restaurant chain and the Spice Club Restaurants brand has acquired the Luna Rossa in Surrey for an undisclosed sum. The company, which has multiple outlets across the South East of England and is headed by Shaf Rahman, plans to reopen the site in Cheam Village at the end of June as a fine dining Indian restaurant called Samsara. Lunna Rossa was an Italian restaurant and delicatessen. The previous owners sold the site to focus on other business interests. The 90-cover restaurant, which will include an al fresco area, will bring the Indian restaurant group's portfolio to seven sites. The owners currently operate two outlets under the Blue India brand in Haywards Heath and Crawley and four venues under the Spice Club concept in Turnbridge, Seven Oaks, Tonbridge and Milton Regis. Rahman said: "We firmly believe that this new addition to our portfolio of restaurants will be a substantial asset not only to our group, but also to the local area, by offering a truly unique and high end menu to the discerning consumers in Cheam and the surrounding catchment areas." Christie & Co handled the sale.
