Edinburgh’s Court of Sessions has blocked an attempt by licensing authorities in Aberdeen to call last orders on happy hours. Spirit Group and Mitchells & Butlers had challenged the imposition of minimum pricing levels. They claimed the move was anticompetitive. The court ruled the licensing board acted beyond its powers by telling bars to sell single spirits for at least £1.20 and pints for no less than £1.75.
