Handmade Burger Company, the Birmingham-based burger chain led by Chris Sergeant, is set to become the latest group to enter the Mexican category, with the launch of a new concept called Chilaca’s next month, M&C Report has learnt. The 14-strong group, which has recently secured a new site in Reading for its core brand, will open the new format that will feature Mexican street food in Birmingham’s Brindleyplace. It is thought that the site will act as a pilot and will be assessed before being rolled out elsewhere. The group opened its latest site earlier this year at Wakefield’s Trinity Walk development. It has also secured further sites in Manchester’s Deansgate, at the planned London Designer Outlet in Wembley, London and at the Central Village complex in Liverpool.
