Industry sources report that the putative buyer for Bay Restaurants’ Ha Ha Bar & Grill brand have been given another four weeks to complete the deal, writes Paul Charity. Bay Restaurants entered into an exclusivity agreement with an unnamed buyer for its 22-strong Ha Ha Bar & Grill brand that was supposed to conclude before the end of this month. Now the buyer has had the exclusivity period extended until the end of September. One source told the Morning Advertiser: “The deal seems to be proceeding at the speed of a dead sloth - it’s taking an inordinate amount of time.” Ha Ha produced “very strong” interest with six or seven serious buyers lined up when it was put up for sale. Bay Restaurants’ La Tasca business failed to produce offers in line with company valuations and was withdrawn from the market.
