Alf France, the former finance director at Geronimo Inns, has stood down as managing director at Gail’s, the bakery and café chain, after just over three months with the business, M&C Report has learnt. France, who left Geronimo last October, takes up the role at the 10-strong chain, in which Luke Johnson holds a stake, in November. Gail’s was set up in 2005 by ex-city traders Ran Avidan and Tom Molnar in conjunction with Gail Stephens, founder of Baker and Spice. It opened its 10th site in the capital in Soho’s Wardour Street at the end of last year. France spent four years at the pub operator, who appointed Mark Ashley as his successor at the end of October.
