Fire & Stone, the fledgling pizza concept run by Covent Garden Restaurants (CGR), has introduced pasta dishes to its menu as it expands its offering and prepares to open a new restaurant at Spitalfields Market in London. The group, which is led by managing director Hugh Fowler, adopted pasta dishes to its menu following the launch of its new restaurant at Gunwharf Keys in Portsmouth last week and will roll out the dishes across the rest of its sites in the coming months. The dishes range in price between £7.95 and £8.45. The group is close to acquiring the approximately 4,000 sq ft La Tasca site at Spitalfields for an undisclosed sum. It is also looking at opening one other site in 2010 that would take the concept to six restaurants. Fowler told M&C Report that its Gunwharf site opening in Portsmouth had been a great success – thanks to last week’s good weather and word of mouth via Twitter. “We had targeted Portsmouth University students prior to its launch and they responded with tweets following its opening,” added Fowler. “We added pasta to the menu in Portsmouth as we did not want to exclude potential customers and in time this will rolled out across our other restaurants.”
