Premium meal supplier Charlie Bigham’s has appointed Georgina Wood as it new head of food to support and aid its growth strategy, as the group reported a 13% increase in sales to £19.7m for the year to August 2011. Founder Charlie Bigham said that Wood, who is also a director of Pardoe & Wood, the independent upmarket sandwich chain concept, would be a “huge asset to our growing team - it’s going to be great working with her on lots of fantastic new dishes”. He said: “We’re really excited to find somebody with Georgina’s ability and creativity.” Wood said: “Charlie Bigham’s has a reputation for making highest quality and most innovative ready meals on the market. This is an extremely exciting opportunity with a company that has a fantastic food culture – I can’t wait to get stuck in!” Founded in 1996, the company develops and produces dishes for restaurant operators including Carluccio’s, Pret and Itsu.
