Two high-profile restaurants in Cornwall have received arson threats from the Cornish National Liberation Army, who blame them for pushing up house prices in the area. Rick Stein’s restaurants in Padstow and Jamie Oliver’s “Fifteen” restaurant in Newquay have been blamed for “the inflation of house and other living costs at Cornish expense”. Jamie Oliver dismissed the threats, saying that it was the government’s responsibility to make sure that the region had sufficient affordable housing. The chief executive of South West Tourism said that Oliver’s restaurant helped the area by employing local youngsters and buying local produce. The Daily Telegraph 23/6/07 page 9
