Chowdhurys Restaurant Group, the South Coast-based Indian restaurant chain, has revealed plans to open up to five new sites over the next 12 months. Operated by brothers, Zak, Jay, Nelly and Naz Chowdhury, the company currently operates four restaurants, the Curry Lounge in Shirley; the Curry House in Swaythling; the Mint Leaf in Tottenham, London; and the Curry House in Wood Green, London. The company, which was founded by Habibur Rahman Chowdhury in the early 1960s, has recently acquired the Café Mumbai site in Southampton. It plans to refurbish the site and relaunch it under a new name over the next month. The group, which previously built up a seven-strong restaurant estate, also plans to open a balti house in Eastleigh before the end of the year and another venue in an unspecified location called Tiger Dragon.
