Nine TV celebrity chefs are to front a tourism campaign promoting the regions of England as places full of gastro pubs, Michelin-starred restaurants, fine wines and farmers' markets. VisitBritain hopes that the campaign will finally bury the image of English food as just "soggy fish and chips". Gary Rhodes, Brian Turner and Rick Stein are among those who have agreed to take part. Nearly 25m foreign tourists visited the UK last year, spending about £12bn. Domestic holidaymakers spent around £21bn. The Observer 05/09/04 page 9
