Carluccio’s expects to take its total number of restaurants from 13 to 20 within the next year. The company denied it planned to float as it opened his private company’s books to public scrutiny. It nearly doubled pre-tax profits for the 2003 financial year to £1.9m on turnover up 55% to £19.7m. Cashflow increased last year by 6% to £2.15m. Chairman Stephen Gee said this was more than adequate to finance expansion plans. The company plans to continue funding Carluccio’s chefs’ school, Scuola per Cuochi. The Times 28/02/04 page 62
