Carluccio’s, the all-day Italian café chain led by Simon Kossoff, has followed the likes of Pizza Express by launching a range of branded food products into supermarkets. The 17-strong line, ‘inspired’ by dishes available in the restaurants, will be available in 114 Sainsbury’s stores from 18 July. The range includes seven complete meals, serving one or two people, such as a wild boar ragu, lasagne al forno and a chicken and spinach risotto. Four fresh pastas include a medaglioni with spinach and ricotta and a pappardelle and four sauces offer choices such as puttanesca or porcini mushroom and tomato. There are also two fresh individual breads, a caramelized garlic flatbread and a garlic and provolone bread. Prices start at £1.50 for the flatbread to £6 for some meals serving two. Emma Woodford, head of product at Carluccio’s, said: “Since Carluccio’s began in 1999, our philosophy has been to provide great quality authentic Italian food at sensible prices. This same philosophy has driven the development of our ‘At Home’ range. For us this exciting extension to the brand is a chance to share our passion for Italian food.”
