Canteen, the high-quality British food concept, is to launch a 1950s-style transport café pop up at the Design Junction premises from 19 to 23 September as part of London Design Festival. The temporary TfL Canteen will provide not just space for visitors to enjoy British food and design, but also an opportunity for people to meet various designers during a series of special events, such as afternoon tea with Sebastian Conran. Canteen opened their most recent and fifth site in Covent Garden earlier this year next to the Lyceum Theatre. Co-founder, Patrick Clayton-Malone said: “This is the perfect partnership for us, and one we’re really excited about. TfL’s design is recognised throughout the world, and it’s that iconic simplicity that we love and that we recreate in our restaurants across the group.” Co-founder, Dominic Lake, said: “Design is obviously something that’s very close to our hearts at Canteen, and this is such a great opportunity to be involved in an event that showcases the very best of British design, in much the same way as we strive to with our food and restaurant design.”
