Byron, the chain of up-market burger restaurants, will launch its latest site on London’s Charing Cross Road later this month. The former Caffe Uno at 24-28 Charing Cross Road will reopen on 21 January offering 58 covers inside and 16 outside. Tom Byng, Byron’s managing director, said: “This section of Charing Cross Road is a restaurant wasteland – but we like it because of Cecil Court and its bustling rare book trade. “This site, along with Gloucester Road and Earls Court demonstrates our confidence with the Byron formula in small format locations. We’re looking forward to serving a new crowd of ‘proper hamburger’ lovers.” Bryon opened site number 12, which offers 50 covers, in London’s Earls Court before Christmas.
