Michelin starred chef Terry Laybourne and his property developer partner Peter Candler have opened a boutique hotel and restaurant in Newcastle. The 41-room Jesmond Dene House took three years to create on the site of a 19th century house. Laybourne, said: "I grew up in hotels, I learnt my craft at some of the best hotels in the world and it has always been my ambition to bring something of this standard and quality to the North East." Jose Graziosi, formerly senior sous chef at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant, will be the head chef at the site.
