McDonald’s UK has recently recognised its longest serving member of staff, Sheila Khan, in a ceremony attended by the company’s operations director and local government officials. Khan began off her career beneath the golden arches when McDonald’s opened its fourth UK outlet, on 1 September 1975 at Croydon’s North End, and she has been there ever since. Now 66, Khan spends her time as a branch hostess. She told the Croydon Guardian: "I feel proud to have been here for 30 years. It's not the sort of job to stay in for so long if you don't enjoy it." Khan received her award from director of operations Mark Schweizer as part of the branch’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
