Tony Froggatt is to stand down as chief executive of Scottish & Newcastle (S&N), Britain's biggest brewer, in the first half of next year. Froggatt, who has been chief executive at S&N since 2003, has indicated to chairman Sir Brian Steward that he intends to stand down. During his time at the company he has overseen a significant expansion of the group’s overseas presence and acquired the rights of the Foster’s brand in Europe. It is thought he will return to his native Australia. Favourites to succeed him include the brewer’s managing director for eastern Europe, Asia and America, John Nicolson; western Europe head John Dunsmore; and finance director Ian McHoul.
