Drake & Morgan’s The Drift and Young’s pub The Plough topped categories at last night’s Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. The Drift in London’s Heron Tower was named best designed standalone bar or club in the UK, while The Plough in Clapham was named best designed pub. The UK standalone restaurant award went to the London-based Viet Hoa Mess, while Zizzi in Leeds was named best designed restaurant or bar in a retail space. The multiple restaurant award went to the Pizza Express in Plymouth and the multiple bar or club award was picked up by Dirty Martini in London. The café or fast food design award was collected by the Coach House (UK). Overseen by creative interior design consultants Harrison, The Plough, situated near Clapham Junction, reopened in autumn last year following an extensive refurbishment. Patrick Dardis, Young’s retail director, said: “We are extremely proud that The Plough Bar & Kitchen has secured the top spot in the best designed pub category, especially due to the fierce competition on display this year which included The Hollywood Arms, another of our own. This award further cements the fantastic effort across the entire Young’s brand as our pubs consistently offer customers a truly memorable drinking and dining experience, complemented by stylish interiors and innovative design.”
