Robert Tchenguiz has paid around £35m for 39 pubs from Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises, according to the Morning Advertiser. The pubs will be part of Globe, Tchenguiz’s tenanted pub company. Jeremy Blood, the managing director of S&NPE, said: "These pubs are a mixture that were still held on the S&NPE balance sheet. There are also other single site acquisitions we held on our balance sheet with the aim of selling to Globe." Globe, which has around 450 sites, contracts management of the properties to S&NPE. A source close to Tchenguiz was quoted as saying: "We’re focussing on these pubs operationally this year but if acquisition opportunities come along, I’m sure we’ll look at those too." The acquisition takes Tchenguiz’s total spend in the pub sector over the past year to close to £1bn.
