Spirit Pub Company, the managed pub operator, has appointed Catherine Smith to the role of head of resourcing. Smith joined Spirit four years ago and previously worked in high street recruitment. Her role will involve recruitment, with a particular focus on developing a social media strategy to attract talent. Spirit HR director Karen Caddick said: “At Spirit Pub Company our aim is simple; to be the UK’s best managed pub company. To achieve our goal we need to attract and retain the most talented and motivated people who are passionate about hospitality. “Catherine’s role is central to this and through her creative approach to talent acquisition we are now recruiting high calibre employees. This is leading to success not only in terms of us consistently out performing our direct competitors but in the last 12 months we were able to promote more than 400 members of our pub teams to team leader positions.”
