A joint venture between Shepherd Neame and the Royal Mail has seen isolated Kent pubs take on the role of post offices. Angela Poxted, who runs the Challock post office near Ashford in Kent sets up shop in four pubs in Kent once a week. Poxted said: "I take a computer and the necessary paperwork. With that I can do all the services, including pensions and posting things, since I take scales with me. People can withdraw money from their bank accounts, too. "The pensioners really appreciate the fact that I go to them. Some of these villages do not even have a bus service. "I think some people were a bit wary at first but they have got used to it. The landlords look on it very favourably."
