Two London gastropub operators have taken on a second site, with plans to open at the end of summer, writes Lesley Foottit. Freehold the Kings Arms in Bloomsbury is undergoing extensive refurbishment and will reopen as the Lady Ottoline gastropub with a fine-dining room, a private dining room and a traditional downstairs pub area. The pub is owned by Scott Hunter and Maria Larson and the menu will be similar to the pair’s first pub, Enterprise Inns lease the Princess of Shoreditch, in Shoreditch, east London, which opened in 2008. The Princess’s pub menu offers dishes such as pie of the day with fine beans, wrapped in bacon, and spring onion mash (£10.50). Princess head chef Shaun O’Rouke will divide his time across the two pubs initially and Megan Bailey, currently being trained at the Princess, will join the new pub as general manager. The pub is expected to open towards the end of August.
