Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises (S&NPE) has announced it has acquired Harbourmaster Taverns, a small operator with five managed pubs in Hull, for an undisclosed sum in an off market deal. The sites, which have been leased to Daisy Chain on a 10-year fully repairing and insuring leases, are all wet-led community locals with beer sales averaging 400 barrels per pub. The deal takes the company’s presence in the city to 12 pubs. The company said it was keen to acquire similar small multiples with community and traditional pubs in suburbs and villages, and stressed that current trading levels were not necessarily important. Chris Sladen, general acquisitions manager at S&NPE, said: “We factor in capital investment and have a high success rate with our returns. It is the long term potential and sustainability of the business that is key for us.”
