Pubs and clubs will face losing their licences unless they take measures such as searching customers for knives and guns under a package of measures to be announced this week by the Government following a spate of stabbings. The new measures will focus on knife hotspots in London, the West Midlands, Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Essex. Teenagers could also face a curfew to curb the spiralling violence on Britain’s streets. Police in Redruth, Cornwall, have already been given the power to remove anybody under 16 spotted on the streets after 9pm. The Sunday Times 13/07/08 page 1 The Independent on Sunday 13/07/08 page 6
