Pub management company Startmore, which ran around 170 pubs exclusively on behalf of Scottish & Newcastle Pub Company (S&NPC), has gone into administration after cashflow problems. The company, founded in 2008, worked exclusively for S&NPC - it had around 120 pubs actually trading and a further 50 or so pubs where it was care-taking the pub rather than see it boarded up. M&C Report understands that a large number of the pubs have been transferred to LT Pub Management, the management company based in Norfolk which already runs more than 1,100 pubs. Startmore employed six area managers to run the S&NPC pubs, which cover an area from Anglesey to the East Coast. A source close to the situation said: “A petition to wind the company up was lodged by HMRC - the pubs themselves include some good sites, with takings in the £5,000 per week to £11,000 per week range. “Equally, there are pubs not trading well - and 50 sites where Startmore had placed a caretaker to sit in the pub rather than board it up.” LT Pub Management is headed up by Billy Buchanan, former chief executive of London Town.
