A campaign by health authorities in Prague to promote giving blood in return for beer has been hailed as a success by officials. Bus loads of Czechs from around the country turned up to collect two free pints of beer and a year’s subscription to a Czech beer magazine. The health authorities had organised the promotion to coincide with the five day St Wenceslas Beer Festival in the city. They said they know the event would be a success as their countrymen are the world's biggest beer drinkers.
