The Buckinghamshire village of Swanbourne is no longer without a village pub. Former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith and his wife Betsy were on hand to endorse the new pub The Betsey Wynne, which has been built by Betsy’s family estate, run by her brother Tom Fremantle. The pub was built in response to local demand and was partially funded by a grant from the Rural Development Service. It is in traditional Jacobean style and cost around £1m to build and fit. Named after a family ancestor, the pub will serve beers from small breweries and food prepared from local produce. The Daily Telegraph 29/6/06 page 7
