Hertfordshire-based brewer and pub operator McMullen’s is set to invest £6m in converting a bank in Marlow to its high street cafe bar concept, Baroosh. The converted Lloyds bank site is expected to open before Christmas 2012. McMullen’s managing director Peter Furness-Smith told a local newspaper that the next stage of the site’s development was “to help Lloyds bank to relocate at the end of their lease to 17 High Street but that move will not take place until mid summer 2012”. He said: “In the mean time we will work up detailed drawings, go out to tender, and hope to open before Christmas 2012.” McMullen’s currently operates six sites under its high street café bar format, with a further unit set to open in Bishops Stortford before the end of this year.
