Hertfordshire brewer and operator McMullen’s has acquired its second site in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, in which it intends to add its value Chicken & Grill pub concept. The c135-strong group has acquired the Britannia in Marlow for an undisclosed sum. “We are delighted to have acquired our second outlet in the affluent town of Marlow” said Peter Furness-Smith, managing director. “We plan to refurbish the building to create a warm, comfortable new pub with over 130 covers. “The pub will have a modern range of beers, an interesting wine list and our successful, excellent value Chicken & Grill pub menu,” said Heydon Mizon McMullens retail operations director. “The Chicken & Grill concept was developed three years ago and has exceeded our expectations in all five sites where it has been operated. “We are particularly pleased with the latest opening at the Jolly Farmers where initial sales have exceeded our expectations to such an extent that we had to arrange for three additional dray deliveries in the first two weeks!”
