McMullen & Sons, the Hertford-based family brewer, saw profits before tax and exceptionals rise 12% to £10.2m for the year to September 27, as turnover rose 7% to £54.5m. The company, which is in the middle of reorganising its share structure to satisfy family shareholders who wanted to get at some of the capital locked up in the firm, said profit after exceptional Items, which included advisers' costs on the restructuring and profits on property sales, increased by 11.4%.
