JD Wetherspoon founder Tim Martin has dismissed an idea of 5% shareholder Hermes as “potty”.
Hermes wants to see the pubs converted to tenancies.
City Diary, in The Times, points out that managed pubs of the sort Wetherspoon owns do about six times the trade of the average tenancy.
