Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) is set to open its first Toby Carvery “grab and go” site before the end of this year at Southampton’s West Quay shopping centre. The 800sq ft takeaway unit in Southampton, which is scheduled to open next month, will offer “Toby Carvery meat” served in sandwiches but no alcohol. As revealed by M&C Report in July, the company has been developing a more “express” version of Toby Carvery. The company said new concept provides a further opportunity to expand the brand in the retail environment and transport hubs. It will also build upon recent openings for the brand on retail and leisure parks in Romford and Basildon. M&B is also set to open its first dual-brand Toby Carvery and Harvester sites later this year, with Burton-on-Trent and the MetrOasis development in Gateshead, mooted as possible locations. The company will open its first combined operation with a Harvester and a Toby Carvery at St Catherine's Walk shopping centre in Carmarthen, Dyfed next month. As revealed by M&C Report in July, the single unit will feature a Harvester on the ground floor and a Toby Carvery on the first floor.
