Nightclub operator Luminar has dropped plans to turn some of its biggest venues into gambling and entertainment complexes after losing an appeal last week to run a casino at the former Majestyk nightclub in Leeds. Chief executive Stephen Thomas said the casino dream had been “put back in the bin” and the Majestyk would instead become a venue for indie bands. Plans to turn a former ice rink in Bournemouth into a casino had already been rejected. Instead it will become an Oceana nightclub. Meanwhile brokers Blue Oar Securities are rating Luminar shares as “a sell”. They say Christmas is critical, but it could be muted.
