Luminar has been criticised by police and politicians in Wales for its offer of three hours of free alcohol for £5 and Jumpin’ Jaks in Cardiff. Jon Owen Jones, Cardiff Central MP, said: "This club has set an irresponsible example which unfortunately others will be tempted to follow." Jones called for an extra penny on every pint sold in Cardiff, to contribute to weekend policing in the city. Luminar replied: "The Tuesday night promotion, called Bottle Heaven, means customers are permitted into the venue for the cost of £5 and then drink only bottles and draught lagers. "They are only served another drink when they return their empty glass/bottle." "A value-for-money offer at such a venue will not cause concern as it is run in a structured way, taking account of the legal requirements that no alcohol is served to any person already intoxicated," she said.
