Nick Collins, former finance director at Capital Pub Company, is to join Loungers, the fast-growing cafe/bar restaurant group led by Alex Reilley, in early 2012, as the group’s first finance director, M&C Report has learnt. Collins left Capital earlier this year after its £70m sale to Greene King in July. In his time at Capital, which culminated in the sale of the business to Greene King, Collins was instrumental in the growth of the estate from 25 to 35 pubs and achieving industry-leading sales and profit performance. Previous to joining Capital in 2008, Collins was founder and managing director of the Fuzzy’s Grub chain. Reilley, managing director at Loungers, which operates the Lounge and Cosy Club concepts, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have Nick joining us, particularly as there were a number of other parties interested in his services. He obviously has strong sector experience and culturally he’s a great fit for our business. “Having not previously had an finance director it marks a significant appointment for us but with a sustained period of growth ahead for the business it was clear we needed to bring someone in at board level to strengthen that side of the business and Nick was the perfect candidate for the role”. Collins said: “I am very excited about joining such a dynamic business and working alongside Alex and his team as the Loungers brands move into their next stage of growth". Loungers, which currently operates 21 sites, intends to open a further eight sites in 2012 starting with the opening of Conto Lounge in Winton, Bournemouth in January, followed by Circo Lounge in Westbourne, also in Bournemouth in February.
