The developer Roxylight has criticised the “shambolic” sale of Young’s London brewery. Another unsuccessful bidder claimed that the entire sale process lacked continuity and direction. Roxylight had bid for the 5.5 acre (2.22ha) Ram Brewery in Wandsworth along with US private equity group Blackstone.  It believed it had secured the deal when Young’s announced an £80m bid from another unnamed party.  Young’s recently announced plans to merge operations with rival brewer Charles Wells in Bedford. Other unsuccessful bidders for the London brewery included Australian property group Multiplex, Barratt Homes and an Israeli company. Most prospective buyers planned to convert the building into flats, but Roxylight planned a mixed use scheme including a microbrewery. Financial Times 27/5/06 page 4
