Living Ventures, the group led by entrepreneurs Tim Bacon and Jeremy Roberts, is putting the finishing touches on its conversion of the Est Est Est Italian chain to its other restaurant concepts. The group will open a Blackhouse Bar & Grill restaurant in Leeds this weekend, followed next week by a Gusto in Knutsford – the final site to be converted from the Est Est Est business. It means the Est name will disappear altogether from UK high streets and town centres, existing only in airports and other travel locations. Following the conversions, the Living Ventures business will comprise eight Gusto restaurants and six Blackhouse Bar & Grill outlets. The group is thought to be pulling together a pipeline for future openings, with negotiations on various sites underway. Living Ventures acquired the Est Est Est brand from The Restaurant Group (TRG), when TRG acquired a 40% stake in Living Ventures. TRG still operates the Est name – through several variants to the format – in travel hubs around the UK.
