JD Wetherspoon (JDW), the managed pub operator, has bought the freehold of the Corn Exchange bar and nightclub in Camborne, Cornwall. It acquired the site from the administrators of L2, Alistair Wardell and Nigel Morrison of Grant Thornton. Christie & Co handled the sale on behalf of Grant Thornton. The Corn Exchange nightclub occupies a prominent position in the centre of Camborne. The substantial three-storey building, which has a total trading area of 27,000sq ft, includes a sports-led bar called the Corner Bar, and two rooms licensed for 400 people each. In May this year, Christie & Co sold the freehold of the L2 Nightclub in Truro, Cornwall, to Elm Tree Leisure Limited, the Cornish-based leisure company, for an undisclosed sum. The property agency is also believed to be in advanced negotiations regarding the sale of L2 Limited’s Bunters Bar and the remaining retail units, also in Truro.
