The market capitalisation of Punch Taverns has fallen below that of Greene King after continued pressure in shares of the leased and managed pub group. Punch’s market capitalisation now stands at £666.15m against the £668.19m of the Suffolk-based brewer and pub group. Today’s values stand in sharp contrast to the highs of last year, when Punch’s share capital was valued at £3.62bn, more than double Greene King, which was then capitalised at £1.67bn. In addition to the general downbeat sentiment toward leisure stocks, Punch’s share price has also been hit by concerns over trading at Spirit Group and by fears over its £4.9bn debt position.
