Great Northern Inns, the multiple operator led by David Willans, has opened its seventh pub in the East Midlands and hopes to launch it own brewery before the end of the year. The company has re-opened the Trent Navigation pub in the city’s Meadow Lane area after a major refurbishment. The pub becomes the group’s seventh site. It also runs the Approach, Cross Keys and Globe pubs in Nottingham, as well as the Southbank, Monkey Tree and Copper bar in West Bridgford. The group is currently in the midst of converting large outbuildings at the Trent Navigation into a new brewery, which it hopes to open next month. Named the Navigation Brewery, the company plans to not only use the ale brewed at the new facility in its own sites but also to supply other businesses in the area.
