Mitchells & Butlers (M&B), the managed pub operator, has announced more changes to its board with news that Doug Evans is to step down as a company director at its AGM on 31 January. He is leaving to join Hays as company secretary and general consel. Meanwhile, Doug McMahon, a representative on the M&B board of Piedmont, the investment vehicle of Joe Lewis, has appointed another Piedmont representative Richard McGuire as his alternative from 1 October. McMahon is based in the US and McGuire will attend meetings where he is unable. McGuire is currently managing director of Tavistock Europe and is a non-executive director of Timeweave plc and DCD Media plc. Bob Ivell, executive chairman of M&B, said: “I would like to thank Doug for his important contribution to the board and wish him every success in his new role.” The company is still looking to appoint some independent non-executive directors following the announcement that Marston’s chief operating officer Alistair Darby is to become its new chief executive.
