City Diary, in The Times, concludes the Trade and Industry Select Committee inquiry into tenanted pub companies will call for a voluntary code of practice while recommending a fresh inquiry by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). It reaches its conclusions after committee chairman Martin O’Neill told a trade paper: "Where there are problems, the hope is that companies will try to establish what best practice should be. It may be a case of ‘patient, heal thyself." He added: "We believe there are things which the Government and the OFT should take a fresh look at." The report will be published next week.
