Andy Slee, the former UK on-trade director for Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE), is heading up the new buying group at Punch Taverns. Slee, who left CCE last year, has been asked to effectively build the function from scratch. The buying group was part of an initiative unveiled this morning by Punch that will see licensees access a wide-ranging portfolio of goods including spirits, wines, soft drinks, disposables, and possibly food, at competitive prices. It is understood that Slee is working with the leased division of Punch on a project basis and will leave the group once the task is complete. Roger Whiteside, managing director of Punch’s leased arm, described the service as “Amazon for Punch lessees”. He said that in time the aim was to incorporate utilities and services such as waste collection into the buying group.
