Dartmoor Brewery, the Devon-based company, has appointed Tim McCord, former director of sales and marketing at Punch Taverns, as its new managing director. McCord spent over four years at Punch before leaving in 2010 to become director of Monmouth Consulting. Previously, he spent two years at InBev as director of customer service and two years as director of sale strategy at Whitbread. Earlier this year, Kevin Georgel, managing director of tenanted pub group Admiral Taverns, joined the board of the award-winning brewery. He has since been appointed non-executive chairman. Georgel and McCord will help the brewery capitalise on the increasing popularity of its award-winning beers as it looks to expand beyond its Devonshire heartland. Georgel, who lives locally, was charged with identifying a suitable managing director that could lead the group’s ambitious development plans. The brewery, which at almost 1,400ft above sea level is thought to be the highest in England, was established in 1994 and is already one of the larger brewers in the South West region. It is jointly owned by founder Simon Loveless and publishing and leisure entrepreneur Philip Davies.
