Cozy Pubs, the fledgling pub company run by individuals who have worked for Peach Pub Company, has increased its opening target after reporting rising sales in its current sites. The firm, which runs two Punch leaseholds, now plans to open a further 10 outlets over the next five years. Last summer M&C Report reported that it was aiming for five sites in total. Paul Cutsforth, partner of Cozy director Leanne Langman who left his position as operations director at Orchid Pub Company last November, has also joined the company. Cozy has reported that its Eight Bells pub in Saffron Walden, Essex, took £30,000-a-week net during December, up 50% on December 2010. Sales at its Cricketers pub in Rickling Green, Essex, are up £3,000 per week for the first few weeks of 2012 compared to the same time last year. Investments of £70k and £50k were made at the two pubs respectively. Cozy is said to be close to securing its next site, an unnamed free-of-tie hotel in Essex. Langman is the sister of Peach co-founder Lee Cash. She used to run Peach’s The Swan at Salford, near Bedford, which won a string of awards, including Punch Taverns’ Best Customer Service two years running and a “Highly Commended” in the Pubchef Food Excellence Awards in 2009.
