Chennell & Armstrong, the four-strong West Yorkshire pub retailer, is selling its estate. The original company was formed in 1817 as a wine import and wholesale business but this part was sold off in the 1990s so that it could concentrate on pubs. However, David Statner, the group’s commercial director is to retire next year and this has prompted the sale of its pubs. These include one freehold and three leaseholds: The Woodman Inn, in Thunderbridge near Huddersfield; The Black Bull in Wetherby; Whitakers in Otley and Whitelocks in Leeds. The four pubs are being sold through Quest Property Sales, the Sheffield-based property agency.
