Charles Wells, the Bedfordshire brewer and pub operator, has placed another package of freehold pubs on the market. Offers are being invited for the eight sites, which are for sale with vacant possession. Four are being marketed as a development opportunity: the Seven Stars in Rugby; the Dock and Duck in Houghton Regis near Luton; the Elephant and Castle in Coventry; and the Vivian Arms in Wellingborough. One of the pubs, the Magpie in Harrold near Bedford, is currently closed. The other sites are the Dog & Partridge in Titchmarsh near Kettering; the Royal Oak near St Neots; and the White Hart in Stoke Goldington near Northampton. The sale is believed to be part of the company’s continual churn of its c.250-strong tenanted and leased estate. In May, Charles Wells put a package of six freeholds on the market. It's understood that five are nearing completion, with a sixth set to go to auction at the end of the month. Property advisor Gerald Eve is marketing the pubs.
