Cask Marque is to target the larger pub companies this year, the organisation has told the Morning Advertiser. The group hopes to increase licensee accreditation numbers to 3,500 and is planning 6,000 extra pub visits to reach this goal. Paul Nunny, Cask Marque's director, also welcomed the involvement of the Big Four brewers in the organisation's aims. He said: "The 33 independent family brewers now account for more than 50% of the UK cask ale market and increased volumes by 4% last year and now the nationals are taking the message on board. "It's heartening to see such big names as Interbrew and Coors putting bigger investment behind cask, which means we can begin the new year on a high note."
