Bar and restaurant chain The Buddha Group is planning to open a venue in Belfast. The group currently owns ten Buddha bars in Scotland as well as one in Oldham. Its Belfast property is due to open in late October in the city’s Odyssey Pavilion, a development reputed to be worth £1m. In 2004, Buddha announced a UK-wide expansion plan, and earlier this year, the company added Glasgow’s Red Lizard and Paisley’s Crowbar to its estate. In addition, it has signed development agreements for venues in Kilmarnock and Manchester. Buddha Group owner David Davidson told the Belfast Telegraph: "Our first foray into Ireland will see us opening the largest Buddha bar and restaurant yet, with over 10,000sqft in floor space and capacity for over 900."
